A Look Into The Life Of Steven Flax, M.D., M.B.A.

A Fellow of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Dr. Flax attended the Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois in 1978 to acquire his undergraduate degree.Moving on, he acquired his medical degree in the year 1982 from the University of Miami School of Medicine, which is based in Miami, Florida. Once done, he moved on to performing his Residency in Anesthesiology at the Brigham & Women's Hospital from 1982 to 1985. The hospital is located at Harvard University Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.
With education out of the way, it was back in the year 1985 that Dr. Flax took on the opportunity to start his practice of Anesthesiology. He took a start in Lakeland, Florida. The work that he performed in the field of Anesthesiology holds utmost importance. He actually played a major role in the establishment of the Watson Clinic Department of Anesthesiology. With time, he also acquired his Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A) degree in the year 1997 from the University of South Florida School of Business, Tampa, Florida.
Other contributions by Dr. Flax
Along with his countless contributions in the field, there also remains the fact that Dr. Flax has served on the Board of Directors of the Volunteers in Medicine Institute. He has also been a part of the Editorial Board of the monthly journal "Managed Care Physicians". However, his contributions to the field do not end here, for he has additionally served as the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Clinical Systems Consultant, Director of Quality Improvement and Utilization Review, and as President and C.E.O. of the Watson Clinic Foundation, Inc.
There are countless aspects associated with Dr. Flax's personality that truly make him shine. The sort of devotion that he holds to help those in need is truly heart warming. In order to make sure that health care services are adequately provided to people of all sorts of lifestyles and backgrounds, Dr. Flax actually came up with the idea of establishing a voluntary clinic. It is for this reason that he founded the Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine Clinic. This particular volunteer run clinic is known to have continually provided top notch quality yet free medical care to patients who do not have health insurance. The establishment of this clinic actually made it possible for Dr. Flax to receive the Florida Medical Business Physician Humanitarian Award in the year 2001, the National Association of Social Workers' (NASW's) Public Citizen Of The Year Award, Polk Medical Association's Art of Medicine Humanitarian Award, and the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) Preeminence Award.
Above everything else, Dr. Flax is also known to have served as the Vice President of the We Care-Polk County, Coach of Lincoln Avenue Academy Chess Team, volunteer physician Talbot House Good Samaritan Free Clinic, member of the Lakeland Rotary Club, and a member of Leadership Lakeland Class XVI. At the moment, Dr. Flax continues to provide top quality services as the Chief Medical Officer of Physician Specialty Compounding, LLC
